Josep Guardiola never tires of admiring the return to form of midfielder Phil Foden.
It is still rumoured that Foden is in disgrace with Pep and is therefore on the pitch less frequently of late.
However, Guardiola is in fact very happy with the 22-year-old Englishman, whose double helps City beat Bristol City in the fifth round of the FA Cup the night before (3-0).
Pep Guardiola: Phil [Foden’s] impact has always been flabbergasting, awesome.”
Phil Foden: “I feel much better in my feet – it’s not easy sometimes when you play with discomfort in your feet. I’m feeling 100% fit now and comfortable. Hopefully I can come back into the Man City team and help them as much as possible.”
Phil Foden: “It’s been one of the lowest parts of my career but everyone goes through them and it’s how you react.”
It should be noted that Phil Foden, despite his not very frequent appearance in the main Manchester City squad of late, is the team’s second leading scorer after Erling Haaland. He has scored eight goals for City. That’s why probably Pep praises Phil.
