City are coming off a 2-0 home win over Newcastle and continue to chase Premier League-leading Arsenal.

Regarding the FA Cup match against Bristol City, Ederson, Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland return to the starting line-up for City.

Compared to the League Cup final, there are three changes to the starting forty line-up of Newcastle United. These new faces are Nick Pope, Jamal Lascelles and Anthony Gordon.

The home side nearly open the scoring in the first minute but Gundogan’s header from the edge of the net goes over the top.

Continuing to apply pressure, City open the scoring in the 15th minute. Foden takes over, bursts into the penalty area, races down the right flank and hits the net with a ricochet from Sven Bottman to make it 1-0.

Foden’s goal is the only shot on target for either side in the first half. The Cityzens are fairly confident in controlling the game, but do not try too hard.

In the second half, Newcastle get bolder and begin to strain the opponent’s defence, but get too carried away and in the 67th minute is punished for it. With his back to goal, Erling Haaland crosses the ball to Bernardo Silva, who barely out of the box and takes his second touch from outside the box to make it 2-0.

After a second conceded goal, the Magpies throw out the white flag and stop resisting.

City open the scoring easily and quickly enough, but then get relaxed and, when it looks like they might pay the price, Bernardo Silva decides the fate of the match.
