The Cityzens are coming off a 1-3 away win over Leipzig to pick up three points. This is their second consecutive victory in the group stage of the Champions League.

Compared to the previous match, Josko Gvardiol, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish return to the starting line-up. They replace Nathan Ake, Mateus Nunes, Jérémy Doku and Julian Alvarez.

The visitors settle in quite quickly and begin to put their opponents under pressure. On one occasion Silva incomprehensibly fails to put the ball in the net, playing on the far post.

In the 25th minute, the hosts concede. Rico Lewis shoots from the right edge of the penalty area to the 11-metre mark, from where Phil Foden takes a touch shot that bounces off the turf.

After opening the scoring, City lose their grip a little, but RB Leipzig never trouble Ederson throughout the first half.

The second half starts with the score tied. Lois Openda is launched into the break by his partner, enters the penalty area to the right of centre, puts Manuel Akanji in the box and hits the goal with a touch from the far post — 1:1.

RB Leipzig equalise and go backwards, and then begin to play on the rebound. Despite the pressure, Leipzig have no clear chances, with the exception of Foden’s free-kick hitting the crossbar.

Still, City press their opponents. In the 84th minute, substitute Julian Alvarez curls the ball into the goal from the edge of the penalty area — 1:2.

And already in extra time Jérémy Doku comes out one-on-one and coolly finishes a quick counterattack of his team — 1:3.

RB Leipzig’s goal at the start of the second half puts the game back on track, but City still tip the scales in their favour and win on class and experience.
