Cityzens want Ferguson, the Brighton striker to pair with Erling Haaland.
City have absolutely no plans to part ways with Haaland despite continued interest in the latter from Real Madrid, and the European champions are now working on extending Erling’s contract beyond 2027.
At the same time, City continue to make plans to strengthen the squad, including the striker position and can confirm that they see Ferguson as the best assistant to Haaland.
The 18-year-old Irishman has been outstanding in 2023, becoming the sixth youngest hat-trick writer in Premier League history last weekend with his three goals to secure Brighton’s 3-0 win over Newcastle.
That doesn’t mean City will attempt to acquire Ferguson as early as January or next summer, but the belief at the Etihad is that Evan could make an intimidating duo alongside Holland on the two-year horizon.
Ferguson is also of interest to almost every rival of City to get into the Champions League.
