Manchester City announce the acquisition of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji.
Akanji is linking his future with City for the next five years and is costing the Citizens around £15m. Such a low price is due to the fact that Manuel only has one year left on his contract at Dortmund.
In Akanji, the Premier League champions get an experienced defender who has played 158 games in his four and a half years at Borussia Dortmund.
The 27-year-old defender, who started his career with Basel, has played 41 games for Switzerland.
“He has everything we want to see in a central defender. He is strong, fast, comfortable with possession and has an excellent passing range. He will complement the other defenders in this team and our style of play,” reports City sporting director Txiki Begiristain.
