Pep holds back Bernardo. Guardiola was the one who persuaded Bernardo Silva last summer when he wanted to leave the club and he is still fighting to keep the player at Manchester City.

Bernardo cannot be replaced, so we want to keep him at all costs. He has no counterpart in modern football, he is absolutely unique. Pep will of course find ways to build football without him, but it’s impossible to find a similar player. Well, Arsenal have now signed a cheap copy of him called Fabio Vieira, in the hope of at least a tiny repeat of his success. Bernie has really won it all in England, contributing hugely to each of the trophies. It only seems to be pushing him to take the next step. Could Catalonia offer the Portuguese anything more interesting than pleasant weather and a Wikipedia line about playing in Barcelona?
